Why Learning is a Vulnerable Act.

Our team member Kirsten Montanari came to Stoked after spending a few years leading wilderness therapy trips outside of Zion National Park in Utah. Kirsten draws metaphors from her past work where, when their lives are drastically simplified, people are able to get at the heart of what really matters. Learning is an inherently vulnerable act. We're signaling to everyone around that we don't know everything, and we need to be taught. This can often be hard for the ego to handle, so at Stoked we go to great lengths to make being vulnerable feel safe and rewarding. Change almost never happens when you're in a comfortable environment. We consider it our challenge to take our clients out of their comfort zone while simultaneously letting them know they are fully supported.
