How can we bring joy and relief into the virtual work world?

Hello! Kristin here, repping the Art Department at Stoked and co-opting the newsletter this month (thanks, Anna!). Why? I want to share a few things I learned this year about collaboration and spreading joy in a virtual work world.

First off, “working from home” doesn’t have to be your home. Working from “home” became the norm for many of us, myself included, but home wasn’t where I thought it was. It wasn’t my little apartment in downtown Nashville, but rather, the teenager-filled home of my dear, sweet sister in rural Wisconsin. I needed a backup crew beyond my loving colleagues in the Zoom rooms, and let’s face it, some green space to move! An extended stay in my peaceful little hometown was the perfect answer. Read more about how my family became unofficial Stoked employees.

Being the general creator of all physical assets in our studio, heading north, and spreading out made collaborating much easier for me. Although I’m now settling back into our Nashville studio, our team members and collaborators live everywhere. We know that Zoom meetings are here to stay. Watch a few tips on surviving the virtual world straight from the home offices of our Stoked Collective so you can stay focused and energized.

Lastly, over this past year, I’ve been experimenting with ways to infuse physical joy and delight into a virtual client experience. If you know Stoked, you know we are all about hugs, high fives, and in-person connections. As we continue to design our virtual client experiences, we spend time thinking about that first piece each participant sees on their doorstep, a custom box full of session materials, colorful snacks, stickers, home office tools, handwritten cards, happy hour kits, and more. We feel it really sets the tone for the session ahead, and I’m grateful I get to put that piece together. Listen to this great conversation with Brené Brown and Priya Parker as they talk about what they’ve done to design meaningful gatherings.

I hope you find yourself inspired to experiment with something new—big or small.

High fives,

Kristin

What We're Listening To 🎙

In this episode, Brené talks with Priya Parker – a master facilitator, strategic advisor, and the author of The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why it Matters. They dig into what it means to come together, why connection requires intention, and the often invisible structures inside our most meaningful gatherings. Priya even deconstructs Brené's wedding and why, decades later, people still tell her how different and fun it was!
