Work, Becoming a Mom, and Life's Big Questions

Stoked Community,

One of the reasons Stoked exists is to push the boundaries of workplace design. This year we want to bring our ideas and experiments to you more explicitly by sharing personal stories of growth. Each newsletter we will feature a “Guest DJ” who will spend a few months exploring a perplexing workplace design question. There will also be a new opportunity for dialogue with you around each topic to collectively expand these much needed conversations.

Please join me in welcoming our first Guest DJ, Lauren Lee, Senior Specialist & Design Researcher. Lauren leads the way by sharing her experience as a soon-to-be mom taking her first ever leave from work. Whether you are a working or parent or not, we encourage you to ask yourself: How am I showing radical support for my colleagues going through a significant life change?

To sprinkle some delight on top of this already delicious treat, we’ll be experimenting with an Un-Professional giveaway as a part of each newsletter. This isn’t us donating our service, but instead finding ways to spread its spirit (one of not-so-subtle resistance to the status quo).

For our first experiment, we’re excited to share an opportunity to win a coaching session with LaToya Jordan, PhD. In addition to being a #BossMom, LaToya is the Founder & Chief Consultant of Lead By Design Lab, a boutique strategic development practice that uses human-centered methods to unlock the potential of leaders and teams.

Dig in, ask questions, and help us make some noise for working parents.

Cheers,
Barbara Patchen
